In 2025, AI text generators will be more than just trending topics in the SEO and copywriting sector.

I’m seeing more and more discussions about it in Facebook groups or on X (formerly Twitter), and I’m increasingly discovering blogs and websites created partially or entirely by AI.

So I asked myself the question: How good are these tools?

The answer is different than I expected when I started my research and testing a few months ago.

Because AI texts are no longer what they were a few years ago!

In this article, I have thoroughly tested ten of the most popular AI text generators and writing assistants. You will also find out which tasks the tools are suitable for, what my favorite templates are, and in which direction text generators will develop.

What is an AI Text Generator?

AI text generators ( AI writing tools or AI writing assistants ) are computer programs or apps that can automatically write texts.

A heading, an introductory text, or a task description (also called a prompt in English) is sufficient as input for text generation, as in the following example:

AI text tools use language models that work with deep learning, i.e. they can “learn from their experience” and are pre-trained using huge amounts of text, such as the entire Wikipedia.

And no:

Even though additions such as “artificial intelligence (AI)” or “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” suggest that AI text generators have a human-like understanding of the text, they are ultimately just software that uses enormous amounts of data to determine how a sentence or paragraph is likely to continue.

Still, the technology is ground breaking and will feel like magic to you more than once (at least, that’s how it felt to me)!

How good are today’s AI text generators?

AI text generators have made a huge leap in the last three years and are improving in English.

Of course, the tools cannot replace a professional copywriter, but they can still take a lot of work off your hands during the writing process and save you a lot of time.

More than I thought (and then you might think).

AI text tools are now one of my most used SEO tools and are used in almost every blog post I write. We have dramatically changed our blog post-writing process and are now 2-3x more effective than we would have been without AI.

It is important to understand that the quality of the input is crucial for the output quality. If you know how to use the tools correctly, you will achieve significantly better results with Jasper, Neuroflash, and Co.

What are they suitable for?

AI text generators are very suitable for short texts, generating ideas and content planning, or for diligent work on the text. For example, you can:

  • Generate headings
  • Generate product descriptions
  • Short answers to questions (e.g., in FAQs)
  • Writing blog article introductions
  • Generate product, blog, or brand names
  • Planning the structure of a blog article
  • Provide ideas for new blog articles or social media posts
  • Writing the first draft of a blog article
  • Shorten, summarize, or rewrite texts

However, they are rather unsuitable for:

  • texts about complex topics
  • Texts where correct information and facts are important (e.g., in the areas of health, finance, or law)
  • Sensitive topics (racism, sexism, discrimination, sexuality, etc.)
  • Entire books and longer e-books
  • fiction (in many cases)

The test results in detail

Below, you will find the test results of all AI text generators in detail (in the order of their test result):

Neuroflash

neuroflash

Price: Freemium, from 25 € / month

Templates: 100+

Neuroflash is currently the best AI text generator:

English texts are roughly on par with Jasper.ai, Writesonic, and Frase

Neuroflash claims to be GDPR compliant. Data sent to OpenAI is not used as training data for language models and remains confidential.

One of the great advantages of Neuroflash is the huge selection of templates. Overall, the tool is suitable for 100+ text types and purposes:

The heart of Neuroflash is the AI texter, a clear editor in which you can write and format even long texts.

You can either continue writing your text by pressing a button, open the chatbot ChatFlash in the sidebar, or insert text using the 100+ templates that you can access via the sidebar:

What is Neuroflash best suited for?

Neuroflash is the best AI text generator and the best choice for companies that value data protection.

It doesn’t put a big hole in the budget:

The standard plan with 30,000 words per month is available for just €25 per month, which is a very fair price. If you want to generate a lot of text, the Pro plan is worth it starting at €67 per month, which includes unlimited words and images.

It also offers a free plan with 2,000 words, which allows you to test the tool extensively before you decide on a paid plan.

Advantages

  • Free plan available (with 2,000 words per month)
  • According to their statements, GDPR compliant
  • Fast text generation
  • Good and fast blog article wizard
  • Can write dialect (e.g., Bavarian)
  • Large selection of templates
  • Special templates for any language (e.g., gender or change of salutation)
  • Continuous development of functions
  • Keyword research integrated with Seobility, which is great for SEO texts
  • Image AI included, even with the free plan (new!)
  • Integrated AI chatbot “ChatFlash,” which works similarly to ChatGPT

Disadvantages

  • The editor does not offer many formatting options (e.g., no links can be inserted)
  • The user interface design could be better.
  • The template selection and naming could be clearer.

Writesonic

writesonic

Price: Freemium, starting at $13/month

Templates: 80+

Writesonic impresses with its low price and good text quality, almost close to Neuroflash’s.

It also has a modern and clear user interface, a good long-form editor with the “Sonic Editor” and Chatsonic, the best-integrated chatbot of all tested AI text generators.

Since our last test, the tool has developed enormously and has secured second place, even ahead of the market leader Jasper, which it was inferior to until a few months ago.

For example, Writesonic has constantly developed its templates. With the new “AI Article Writer 5.0”, for example, you can create blog articles up to 2,500 words long based on articles by your competitors or your articles.

The output quality is okay and provides a good basis for a blog article. However, you must always expect to have to edit the article thoroughly:

I also like that Writesonic offers an integration with Surfer SEO, which works similarly to Jasper:

A highlight of Writesonic is the integrated AI chatbot Chatsonic, which, for me, is currently one of the best alternatives to ChatGPT :

With Chatsonic, for example, you can set Google search results to be included in the answer. This way, you can also get an answer if you ask about a current event, such as the 2022 World Cup:

chatsonic

ChatGPT, on the other hand, cannot deliver the World Cup result (at least without ChatGPT plugins, which are only available with ChatGPT Plus ) and points out that the World Cup is still 3 years in the future:

chatgpt

Recently, it has even become possible to enter links and upload files in Chatsonic, which are then included in the chat responses:

chatsonic-links

What is Writesonic best suited for?

Writesonic is the best choice when it comes to English text. It also offers the best AI chatbot in the test.

The range of functions is also very large. In addition to an AI chatbot, it has an integrated AI image generator, brand voice, a chatbot builder, and “Bulk Generate,” a function for creating mass texts.

It offers one of the best price-performance ratios in the test:

With the Unlimited plan starting at $16 per month, you can generate as much text as you want, but only with GPT-3.5.

The Business plan offers you 33,333 words with GPT-4 and 200,000 words with GPT-3 starting at $12.67 per month (up to 12 or 2 million words are possible for an additional charge).

Advantages

  • The best price-performance ratio in the test
  • Generous trial with 10,000 words
  • AI image generator that can be paid for with text credits
  • Integrated chatbot builder
  • Brand Voice (global information about your own company and branding)
  • Clear and modern user interface
  • Integration for Surfer SEO
  • Cheap unlimited tariff
  • Very good for beginners (from $12.67 per month)
  • Large selection of templates
  • Continuous development of templates and features
  • One-click export to WordPress
  • API integration
  • browser extension
  • Adjustable whether GPT-3.5 or GPT-4 should be used (Premium and Superior)
  • Very good AI chatbot that can retrieve Google data (and is, therefore, a good alternative to ChatGPT )

Disadvantages

  • Text quality could be better than Neuroflash.
  • Sonic Editor is not quite as good as the Jasper Editor.
  • No adjustment of the “Tone of Voice” is possible.
  • Support only in English

Jasper.ai

jasper

Price: from $39 / month

Templates: 50+

Jasper (formerly Jarvis and, before that, Conversion.ai) is one of the best-known and oldest text generators on the market.

Jasper was in first place in our test for a long time but has now lost out to Writesonic and Neuroflash. It performs well but has not developed as much as the competition in the last six months.

It comes with 50+ templates for different text types and tasks:

jasper-templates

Writing longer blog articles with Jasper and introductions, product descriptions, meta descriptions, and texts for Facebook Ads, Google Ads, or headlines is possible. Jasper can also summarize, improve, or rewrite text.

I especially like that there is an integration of Surfer SEO for Jasper, which allows you to use the content editor directly in the Jasper app:

Surfer SEO and Jasper are an absolute dream team!

What is Jasper.ai best suited for?

Jasper is the jack of all trades among AI text generators and can meet various requirements.

In my experience, it is very useful for generating ideas (e.g., for list posts), planning articles, and writing an article’s first draft. From the first draft, you can, for example, pick out the sections of text that you like and then fill in the gaps yourself.

Advantages

  • Very good text quality
  • Fast text generation
  • Large library of high-quality templates (currently 50+)
  • Innovative and clear text editor that can be controlled via shortcuts
  • Clear and modern backend
  • With Boss Mode, you can give Jasper text commands (e.g., “Summarize the text in 300 to 400 words”)
  • Very good for writing SEO texts thanks to integration for the content editor of Surfer SEO
  • Settings for different writing voices (Tone of Voice)
  • Brand Voice
  • Browser extension that lets you use Jasper anywhere
  • Large community (huge Facebook group)
  • Comprehensive documentation and a helpful YouTube channel
  • AI image generator “Jasper Art” included
  • Own chat AI “Jasper Chat,” which is a good alternative to ChatGPT

Disadvantages

  • Expensive compared to other AI text generators, and ChatGPT Plus
  • User interface and support only in English
  • Jasper Chat is better than Chatsonic.
  • Little further development of the templates

Frase

frase

Price: starting at $44.99 per month

Templates: 40+

Frase is one of the best text generators on the market. The tool scores point for its ease of use, great editor, and good text quality.

The tool particularly masters product descriptions for online shops and smaller blog articles with flying colors – almost on the level of Jasper or Neuroflash.

Where Frase comes out as the best tool in the test is SEO. Firstly, it offers four useful SEO tools :

frase-seo-tools

With the “Wikipedia Concept Map,” you can search Wikipedia for topics, and with the “Topic Planner,” you can generate long-tail keywords, which are great for keyword research.

On the other hand, it offers ingenious SEO functions in the editor, some of which I find better than the content editor from Surfer SEO.

The sidebar in the editor is super awesome for competitor analysis. The “SERP Overview,” for example, shows you the article structure of your competitors for a specific keyword (with the option to adopt it):

The text generator offers a good price-performance ratio:

The basic plan for $44.99 per month for 10,000 characters is very expensive, but if you add the SEO add-on for $35 per month, the character limit is removed, and you can generate as much content as you want with the AI.

What is Frase best suited for?

Frase is most suitable for you if you want to create SEO texts. For other purposes, such as social media posts, advertisements, or video scripts, Jasper or Neuroflash are better.

I prefer the combination of Jasper and Surfer SEO for SEO texts, but Frase is ahead in terms of price:

If you generate 700,000 words per month with Jasper in Boss Mode, you’ll pay $500. For Surfer SEO’s Pro plan, you’ll pay another $99, about $600 monthly. With Frase, you’ll pay about $80 per month.

Advantages

  • Good text quality
  • Clear backend
  • Great SEO tools (e.g., researching relevant Wikipedia articles)
  • Great for writing SEO texts through comprehensive SERP analysis and topic research directly in the editor (sometimes better than the content editor from Surfer SEO)
  • Fast text generation
  • Good templates
  • Easy-to-use text editor, including shortcut control
  • For about $80 per month, text generation without character limit

Disadvantages

  • The selection of templates could be larger.
  • Basic plan for $44.99 per month offers only 10,000 characters (about 1,500 words)
  • User interface and support only in English
  • No continue writing button visible in the editor by default (must first be selected in the templates)

ClosersCopy

closerscopy

Price: starting at $35/month or $297 lifetime

Templates: 60+

ClosersCopy is the ideal AI text generator if the word “subscription model” makes the hairs on your neck stand up.

It is one of the few AI text tools that offer a lifetime deal and whose costs are also within a humane range (lifetime here means about five monthly contributions from Jasper).

Of course, you must be prepared to accept compromises regarding text quality and functionality.

But that doesn’t mean that ClosersCopy is bad. For example, I like that the tool uses multiple AIs for copywriting, each tailored to the specific use. You can choose between SalesAI, BlogAI, and StoryAI.

The topic of SEO is also very well integrated into ClosersCopy. In addition to the SEO audit of a text, you can also schedule content using the SEO planner.

What is ClosersCopy best suited for?

ClosersCopy is ideal if you are looking for an AI text tool that will accompany you for a long time without burning a hole in your wallet every month. The lifetime deal offers very good value for money.

By the way:

ClosersCopy is ideal for use in a team. The “Power” tariff includes additional access for one team member, “Superpower” includes two accesses, and “Superpower Quad” includes four.

With all other tools, you pay very high surcharges for additional access!

Advantages

  • Lifetime deal available
  • Access for team members is included from the “Power” tariff onwards.
  • Very good text quality for short texts
  • The choice between formal or informal translation is possible.
  • Selecting an AI before writing text (BlogAI, SalesAI, StoryAI)
  • Innovative editor with many formatting options
  • SEO audit based on a SERP analysis with content score (similar to Surfer SEO)

Disadvantages

  • Text quality for longer blog texts can be improved.
  • The user interface could be clearer.
  • Text creation takes longer than with Frase or Jasper.
  • No permanently available “Continue writing button” (the long-form template must first be selected in the menu)

Rytr

rytr

Price: Freemium, starting at $9 per month

Templates: 30+

Rytr is a very young AI text generator that was only officially launched in April 2021.

The user interface is clean, and the editor is easy to use. At €29 per month, Rytr’s Unlimited plan offers very good value for money.

However, you also have to make some compromises in terms of quality:

Rytr offers significantly fewer templates than Jasper or Neuroflash. It is also annoying that the “Continue Ryting” button only appears when you select text. If you click the button, the selected text loses its formatting (headings and paragraphs are removed).

What is Rytr best suited for?

Rytr is an AI text tool for budget-conscious people. One hundred thousand characters will cost you just $9 per month.

Rytr creates product descriptions, short blog posts, and article outlines well, even if you have to rework some parts.

Advantages

  • 10,000 characters per month are free
  • Integration for Semrush
  • Excellent value for money in the premium tariffs
  • Creates neat texts in any language quickly and reliably
  • 20 different text moods adjustable
  • Clear and easy-to-use backend
  • Integration into WordPress and Shopify via Rytr API is possible.
  • SERP analysis is integrated into the tool, which is helpful for SEO texts

Disadvantages

  • only a few templates
  • The continue writing button is hidden.
  • After pressing the Continue Writing button, the selected text loses its formatting.
  • User interface and support only in English

Copy.ai

copy-ai

Price: Freemium, starting at $36 per month

Templates: 90+

Copy.ai is a decent AI text generator developed based on GPT-4.

The software is characterized by a large template database with 90+ templates for various areas. There are also some unique templates, e.g., for song lyrics, short stories, wedding vows, motivational quotes or dating profiles:

copy-ai-templates

A special feature of the tool is the “Supercharge” function, which allows you to crawl the website of a competitor or product manufacturer and extract the most important data and key points:

copy-ai-supercharge

It’s a shame, however, that SEO features still need to be integrated into the tool. There are no proprietary SEO tools or integrations for third-party providers (such as Semrush or Surfer SEO).

On the other hand, I appreciate the user-friendly interface of the text generator, especially the robust text editor, which makes it easy to edit and refine the content you’ve created.

The tool can be used free of charge for up to 2,000 words per month. However, the texts are only available in English.

What is Copy.ai best suited for?

Copy.ai is very suitable for English-language blog articles. It can also be used for shorter texts, such as product descriptions or image captions.

At $36 per month with annual payment, it offers a rather expensive unlimited plan and can be a good alternative to Jasper or Neuroflash if you want to generate large amounts of English text.

Advantages

  • Free plan available (up to 2,000 words per month, but only in English)
  • Unlimited plan starting at $36 per month
  • The Supercharge feature creates great sales texts.
  • Large selection of templates
  • 25 languages to choose from
  • Clear and modern customer area
  • Useful Blog Post Wizard
  • Clear and easy-to-use editor
  • Mostly fast text generation

Disadvantages

  • No SEO features or tools integrated and therefore not so suitable for SEO texts
  • User interface and support only in English

Writecream

writecream

Price: Freemium, starting at $9 per month

Templates: 30+

Writecream offers a clear user interface and an easy-to-use long-form editor in which you can use different templates to create longer blog articles.

The selection of templates may be larger, but it covers the most important application purposes.

However, Writecream’s main focus is not on creating blog articles but on outreach:

The tool offers templates for “icebreakers,” i.e., cover letters for emails, LinkedIn messages, or backlink requests.

Writecream recently introduced an AI image generator based on DALL·E 2, which is included free of charge in the plan:

writecream-buildgenerator

We also like the new “AI Article Writer” template, which allows you to create blog articles of up to 2,000 words with one click.

What is Writecream best suited for?

Writecream is good for creating outreach emails or social media posts in English, but there are better tools for everything else.

The tool is very affordable. You can get an unlimited version (no character, long-form, or word limits) for just $9 a month.

Advantages

  • The affordable unlimited version is available.
  • AI image generator included
  • Chat assistant “Chatgenie” included (as an alternative to ChatGPT )
  • Write 2,000-word articles with one click.
  • Easy-to-use editor
  • Long-Form Assistant for longer texts
  • Good templates for email and LinkedIn outreach
  • Clear user interface
  • 75+ languages available
  • Tone of Voice selectable

Disadvantages

  • Template selection could be larger.
  • Apart from templates for page titles and meta descriptions, no SEO features or tools are integrated (and therefore less suitable for SEO texts)
  • User interface and support only in English
  • The continue writing button is not permanently visible.

WordHero

wordhero

Price: from $29 per month, from $89 lifetime

Templates: 70+

Along with ClosersCopy, WordHero is one of the best AI text tools for tight budgets.

Because it offers a lifetime deal for just $89 or $267, however, the starter version for $89 does not include the Long Form Assistant and is limited to 30,000 words per month, which is why I would always recommend the Pro version for $267.

WordHero offers you a lot for your money. For example, you can choose from a large selection of 70+ templates:

wordhero-templates

These include special ones like Book Titles, Analogy Providers, Explain It Like a Professor, or Tone Changers.

The templates generally deliver good results, generating faster output than with many other tools.

What is WordHero best suited for?

WordHero is best suited for thrifty people who only want to generate English-language texts.

WordHero offers a good lifetime deal for $267. However, I recommend spending a few more euros and buying ClosersCopy’s lifetime deal. This is better suited for teams and allows you to choose between informal and formal language.

Advantages

  • Affordable lifetime deal (also available as an unlimited version)
  • Clear and modern user interface
  • Large selection of templates
  • Special templates (e.g. “Explain It Like a Professor”)
  • Diverse possibilities for text editing
  • Regular updates and a promising roadmap
  • 108 languages available
  • mostly fast text generation

Disadvantages

  • No SEO features or tools integrated, and not so good for generating SEO texts
  • User interface and support only in English

Neuraltext

neuraltext

Price: Freemium, starting at $19 per month

Templates: 40+

Neuraltext is a text generator that I liked when I tested it.

It offers many functions with special features that other tools do not offer. In addition, the user interface and the editor are modern and clear.

The editor displays a content score, word count, topic coverage, and readability:

neuraltext-content-states

I found the SEO functions particularly useful: Text creation begins with the integrated keyword tool, which outputs individual keywords and entire keyword clusters to be used as a basis for text creation. Key figures such as search volume, PPC competition and CPC are also output.

Even a SERP analysis is possible with Neuraltext. In this process, competitors are first analyzed, and a text is created based on the results.

What is Neuraltext best suited for?

Neuraltext is great for English-language SEO texts. There are better tools for everything else.

Advantages

  • Free plan available
  • Good selection of templates
  • Regular development
  • Modern and clear user interface
  • Easy-to-use editor with continue writing button
  • Long-Form Assistant for longer texts
  • Many languages available
  • Comprehensive keyword research tools (including keyword clustering)
  • SERP analysis integrated in the editor (very good for creating article outlines for SEO texts)
  • add-on for Google Docs

Disadvantages

  • User interface and support only in English
  • The continue writing function only produces short text sections.

What must a Good Text Generator offer?

In the previous chapter, I introduced you to ten well-known AI text generators with all their strengths and weaknesses.

As an additional decision-making aid, I would like to introduce you to some must-haves that you should not do without when choosing a tool:

Large selection of templates

For an AI text generator to be flexible, it must be able to handle different types of text. It’s useless if you have to use tool A for blog texts, tool B for marketing emails, and tool C for Facebook posts.

A good text generator or writing assistant can handle different types of text!

When choosing your tool, ensure it is equipped with enough templates.

I also think it’s really good when you can put together your workflows from different commands, as is possible with the recipe function in Jasper:

jasper-function

Long Form Assistant

AI text generators often have problems with longer texts.

To counteract this problem, more and more tools are incorporating so-called Long Form Assistants. These are intended to help the AI to provide even longer texts with a good structure and avoid duplicate content.

Unfortunately, this still does not work perfectly.

But if you know how, you can often compensate for technological weaknesses by adjusting your input and achieving good results.

Long Form Assistants need a “continue writing” function, i.e., they can continue writing existing text at the touch of a key or button.

In Jasper, this is possible by clicking on the Compose button at the bottom left or by pressing CMD + J:

Some tools, such as ClosersCopy, implement this function more cumbersomely.

There, you first have to call up the long-form template in the editor and then copy the generated input from the sidebar into the text:

Formal and informal address

Depending on the project, you will use different forms of address to address your readers.

While you may address your readers informally on your travel blog, it makes more sense to address them formally on a financial website.

If you are running multiple projects, ensure that the tool of your choice supports both forms of address.

SEO

Generating SEO texts is one of the main purposes of AI text generators.

Therefore, it is advantageous if they have SEO functions, integrations, or templates.

The best solution here is Jasper, which integrates with Surfer SEO’s content editor.

This allows you to integrate keywords into your SEO texts and find subheadings directly in Jasper.

Frase also offers research functions in the editor and some great SEO tools.

Monthly limits

If you choose a text generator, consider the monthly limits.

Experience shows you will get very little with 2,000, 5,000, or 10,000 words per month.

You must always consider that sometimes you will need 2, 3, or 4 attempts to produce a good sentence, paragraph, or section of text.

If you want to write a 1,000-word blog post, you should expect to use at least 2,000 words of your monthly limit.

I always choose a plan with at least 20,000 words or 100,000 characters per month.

Clear and fast backend

If it were up to me, the user interface of an AI text generator would never be clear and tidy enough.

I want to find my way around a simple and clear menu structure and find all functions immediately. Creating text should also be kept as simple as possible, and the editor should not be overloaded with buttons and setting options.

Here, I have to cite Jasper again as a praiseworthy example. I like the user interface of the AI tool the most (including the editor). It is modern, tidy, and loads quickly:

jasper-dashboard

Additional text settings

The individual text types also require gradations: A Facebook ad must be formulated differently than a formal letter.

Accordingly, the text generator of your choice should be equipped with additional setting options for text creation, such as “tone of voice” or the choice between formal and informal language:

jasper-text

Fast text generation

What annoys me most about a text generator is when it takes a long time to generate a text.

Jasper, Writesonic, and Frase are the best tools here. Most applications and templates only need about 4 to 8 seconds for output.

About as long as it takes to lift the coffee cup and take a sip. ☕️

Most other tools often need 10 to 20 seconds to perform the same tasks, which is particularly noticeable when writing longer blog articles.

AI image generator included

More and more AI text tools offer an AI image generator and text generation.

Jasper offers one of the best AI image generators currently available, “Jasper Art,” but it costs an additional $20 per month, making it very expensive.

Writecream and Neuroflash offer this feature for free.

Photosonic, Writesonic’s AI image generator, is not free but is paid for with text credits, which is a better solution than the additional subscription to Jasper.

My Favourite Templates

This chapter introduces my four favourite templates from different AI text generators.

These are the templates that I like best and use frequently in my daily life as an SEO and blogger. As you can probably imagine, most of them are from Jasper, but there is also one from Neuroflash:

One-Shot Blog Post (Beta)

The relatively new template, “One-Shot Blogpost” by Jasper, has quickly become one of my favorites.

You can use it to create a complete blog article with an introduction, main part, and conclusion based on a topic description:

The only drawback currently:

The length of the blog article is limited to about 400 to 600 words; often, the output is even shorter.

Title and Meta Descriptions

A meaningful page title and a meta description are essential for SEO texts. Both are the first point of contact between your readers and your article within the Google search results.

You can create both automatically with Jasper’s “SEO – Blog Posts – Title and Meta Descriptions template.

Sometimes, you have to play around with the input and click the generate button more often to get good titles and descriptions, but the results are often better than you think:

Listicle (Beta)

With Jasper’s “Listicle template, you can create numbered lists on a topic.

The template is great for lists in blog articles and for writing or planning complete blog articles.

Here is an example on the topic of “family-friendly dog breeds”:

Website Heading (H1)

Finding a compelling headline for a page or blog post is challenging and can take 10, 20, or 30 drafts before you find the best one.

This process can be shortened by the “Website Heading (H1) template from Neuroflash, which convinced me the most for this purpose:

What language models are AI text tools based on?

Even though there are now dozens of language models that are suitable for creating AI texts, the vast majority of AI text tools are based on the following two language models:

GPT-3

openai-gpt-3

GPT-3 is the most commonly used language model in text generators, also used in the market leader Jasper.

It was developed by OpenAI, a non-profit organization founded in 2015 by Elon Musk, among others (although he left in 2018 due to differences within the management team).

GPT-3 was introduced in May 2020. Compared to its predecessor, GPT-2, it represented a milestone because, among other things, it contained 100 times more parameters.

The language model has made many positive headlines. The British newspaper The Guardian called the technology “eloquent and even used it to publish an article.

Despite all the advantages of GPT-3, the technology is criticized occasionally because, for example, generated texts lack source information, the texts may contain prejudices, or the facts need to be corrected.

GPT-3.5

GTP-3.5 is an advanced version of GPT-3, which was trained with code in addition to text and is currently used in ChatGPT and Neuroflash.

It includes the following language models:

  1. code-DaVinci-002 (basic model for writing code)
  2. text-DaVinci-002 (an InstructGPT model based on code-DaVinci-002)
  3. text-DaVinci-003 (an improved version of text-DaVinci-002)

What does the future of text generation look like?

However, this will change massively in the next 1 to 2 years.

Here are some developments that I think are likely:

Text generators that write like you

One of the next steps in developing AI text generators will be to allow you to train them with your content.

This means that they will no longer write in the style of Wikipedia or the “entire Internet but in your writing style, making your computer-generated texts even more difficult to distinguish from your own written texts.

A fun example (for SEOs) is the Muellerbot, which is based on GPT-3 and gives answers in the style of Google’s Webmaster Trends Analyst John Mueller:

More Spam

Due to the higher quality of automatically generated texts and falling costs for text generation, the amount of spam on the Internet will increase massively.

Not only social networks such as Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook will have to contend more with bots, but also forums and online communities.

Search engines like Google or Bing will probably feel the full impact of AI texts the most:

Mass-generated SEO texts

Shortly, clever SEOs and developers will find ever better ways to create massive amounts of website content using GPT-3.

“Programmatic SEO could also play a major role in providing the necessary prompts for language models.

Programmatic SEO involves automatically generating content using data.

A good example is the website WorldPopulationReview.com, which receives over 9 million visitors daily.

The website ranks for hundreds of thousands of keywords relating to continents, cities, countries, US states, or US counties. The subpages are all structured similarly and consist almost exclusively of data:

It is becoming more important to recognize AI texts

As a protective measure against the high volume of spam, social networks, search engines, and other online platforms will, in the future, have to increase controls and verify that real people post content.

As a result, AI text recognition will become an increasingly important task.

Accordingly, many new tools will be released for this purpose (as well as tools that obscure AI text as such and remove “watermarks”).

Many copywriters will lose their jobs

In particular, bad copywriters or beginner copywriters who hang around on platforms such as TextBroker, Content.de, Fiverr, or Clickworker and work for 2 or 3 cents per word will soon see their orders disappear.

They will gradually be replaced by resourceful copywriters who use AI text tools to create SEO or filler texts 5 or even 10 times faster.

FAQ

Here, I have compiled answers to frequently asked questions about AI text generators:

What free AI Generators are there?

The AI text generators Neuraltext, Writesonic, Writecream, Neuroflash, Copy.ai, and Rytr offer free plans with which you can usually generate 2,000 to 3,000 words per month for free.

ChatGPT is also a possible free AI text generator, although it is expected that the “Research Preview” will not remain free for much longer.

Are there also AI tools that can shorten or summarize texts?

Yes, almost every AI text generator has this feature. Dozens of tests have shown that Jasper delivers the best results in this area, closely followed by Writesonic and Neuroflash.

How can I recognize AI texts?

There are some characteristics in which AI texts differ from human texts. For example, they contain less word and phrase variety, less colloquial language, and tend to be more repetitive.

Do automatically generated texts violate Google’s webmaster guidelines?

Yes, but only if they are of poor quality.

For example, the corresponding help document in Google Search Central states in one place that this applies to texts “without sufficient added value” and in another that only texts that “are not manually reviewed or compiled before publication” are affected.

Which SEO tasks can AI text generators help with?

AI text generators can generate SEO texts, headings, page titles, subheadings, or meta descriptions. They are also useful for keyword and topic research.

Some tools even come with built-in SEO tools. Frase, for example, offers an outline builder, integration for the Google Search Console, topic research on Wikipedia, and a topic planner for finding relevant long-tail keywords.
